Despite all the interest shown over the first few days, I was relieved to finally see the first orders (other than my own) appear on the site admin page. Friends Helen and Johan have both taken the plunge and helped kicked things off with $10 donations, so hopefully others will follow in their footsteps!

However, Johan’s contribution has not yet been added to the dam as he set both the text colour and background colour of his initials box to black! This serves as a reminder to make your dam allocation stand out with an interesting/bright colour scheme. The more attention grabbing it is, the more visitors will mouse-over and click your link (especially for businesses).

Also, there are many benefits to be had by getting in early. While there are few icons/boxes in the dams, site visitors are almost certain to notice the ones that are there. And you or your business are almost guaranteed (for the initial stages anyway) to be featured randomly on the homepage as a “Water Hero”.
